Does not work with PSVR

Posted by Christian W on Oct 20th 2017

The dream is dead.

The cable was advertised as „up to 1080p“ and „120Hz, compatible with VR“, so I decided to order one and hopefully improve somehow the image quality of PSVR.

Today, it arrived and I set it all up correctly. Of course, in order to get a better image on the headset, the mCable had to be placed between the PS4 Pro and the PSVR processor unit.

However, there are some quirks I first ran into:
- The PS4 image is only displayed (processor box only turns on) when you turn on the headset. Before that, the TV stays black.
- When using the PSVR headset, the forwarded picture to the TV turns black, thus removing any chance for asynchronous multiplayer or spectators in the room

Well, I thought I could deal with this, but here comes the real kicker:
- When the PSVR headset switches from „cinema screen mode“ to VR mode, the headset somehow doesn‘t notice this.

The result is this:

You get the unoptimized VR image on the PSVR screen on both eyes :(

I think the cable will work nicely with the Switch and PS3 and others, but any hope to improve the PSVR image with it is crushed ;(

Please double check your settings and connections. mCable Gaming edition does work prefect with Sony PSVR. Nice performance on Nintendo Switch

Posted by Ruben Aguilar on Oct 14th 2017

First of all, the cable is pricey, but the performance that offers worth the price. The improvement on the Nintendo Switch games tested was pretty noticeable. I only can recommend it.

Even after watching videos and checking out reviews I was still blown away by how well they work. It looks like you've enabled something around 4X MSAA, and for some console games that makes such a huge image quality difference.

It works!

Posted by Francis on Oct 12th 2017

First of, kudos to Marseille for making an expensive cable that actually does something, now on with the review, picture quality is noticeably better, it's way sharper, adds a bit of AA, and with more pronounced contrast, that being said it's still not perfect, it adds a wee bit of delay, nothing really major, but there's a slight feel to it when using a mouse on a pc, wich is understandable since there's actual processing going on in there, and the other thing is not really a problem, but just know that you'll need to re-calibrate your tv/monitor as it does change the gamma and contrast curve. So in the end, if you're all for eye candy, you've got the money to spare and you're not doing competitive gaming with a mouse, it's for you, word of advice to Canadians tough, expect a cost of over 200$ with change rate and border fees.

Marseille Mcable Gaming Edition

Posted by Jeff K on Oct 11th 2017

I've worked in the consumer electronics field for nearly a decade, and as such have had lots of experience with "ultra-premium" HDMI cables. Most notably the biggest industry player that I'm sure you all know, whose HDMI cables come in several "bandwidth tiers" and can be seen in retail stores worldwide for between $50 and $150. Not to mention the niche "audiophile" ones selling for $1000+ online.

What I quickly learned through a combination of talking with vendors, coworkers, customers, and doing my own research, is that the premium you pay for these cables essentially pays for a more reliable/rugged build quality, and a lifetime warranty. Claims of improved audio/video quality over the $10 store brand HDMI cables were criminally overblown, if not outright fabricated.

So of course I was skeptical of this product at first, but I had never seen a cable with an embedded graphics processor, and after seeing several reviews and comparisons online, I knew this cable was something different. I want to give a special thanks to Emily on the technical support staff for fighting through a big headache with Paypal on my behalf as well!

Newer PC games typically have multiple anti-aliasing options built in, and the money you spend on these cables may be better spent on a beefier GPU to take advantage of better native anti-aliasing. But for retro PC games with only basic or no anti-aliasing support, and ESPECIALLY game consoles, this cable is absolute magic. My PS3 has never looked this good!

Big props to Marseille for delivering on a $120 cable what crooks ask over $1000 for and come up with squat. Yes $120 is expensive, but this is the first time I can say you can spend more than $10 on an HDMI cable and actually get what you pay for.

In summary, up until THIS POINT, everything you've heard about "ultra premium" HDMI cables being overhyped snake oil is pretty much correct. But those cables don't have embedded graphics processors. This cable is sui generis, in a class of its own, unlike anything we've seen before in a "cable". This changes everything.

I want to give a special thanks to Emily on the technical support staff for fighting through a big headache with Paypal on my behalf as well! These guys have a winning product and excellent customer service. Nothing to lose by giving this product a try.

Works, but pricey.

Posted by Scott on Oct 9th 2017

My main use for this cable is for my Nintendo Switch. Both Breath of the Wild, and the upcoming Mario Odyssey, run at a native 900p. I bought this to smooth out the edges in these two games, and it definitely works in Zelda. My girlfriend, who never notices any changes in graphical settings, said it was like putting on glasses. The difference isn't earth shattering, but it does help. My main gripe will be the price, at $130 for the 6 ft variant, that's almost half the price of the actual console I'm using it on.

Not seeing it yet

Posted by Sterling T on Oct 7th 2017

I purchased this cable in the 6 foot variety. In doing some testing on a ps3 for ps2 games (this ps3 is the 60gb fat with hardware back-compat) even when turning off all scaling and extras, the picture was no better than on a regular cable. For ps3 games running a set 720p the shimmering and aliasing were no different. I did look up and found a video on youtube showing that it did indeed make a difference, though they used it on a PC. I am giving it a middle rating because the CABLE works (i.e. transmits a clean signal) but I am yet to have seen any results that show it is actually doing ANYTHING more with the signal. I will test it on other consoles and also direct pc connect as I can. Maybe my cable is bum.. I actually wish the unit had a method or button to indicate the processing WAS actually working at all so I knew the cable was functioning as it should.

the shipping was fast and packaging is slick and really nice.
